Chris Bumstead reflected on the pressure he faced leading up to the 2023 Olympia, saying: "Every year brings new challenges—and this year is certainly no exception. I find myself tossing and turning in bed every night, staring at the ceiling and asking myself, 'Why am I doing this? Is it all worth it?' Just when I start feeling like I’m finally getting into great shape, everything seems to fall apart. Year after year, I’m put to the test. So why do I keep thinking this year will be any different?"
"As the number of championships grows, the desire to defend your title only intensifies—so naturally, the pressure becomes even greater," Chris Boomstead reflected on this year’s challenges. "From drastic life changes to living in constant fear, health anxieties, injuries, personal stress, and mounting responsibilities—it all adds up. The more ambitious your goals become, the tougher life seems to make them. And when you need to stay laser-focused the most, that’s precisely when it feels hardest to maintain your concentration."
