Introduction to the Chinese Society for Cell Biology

The Chinese Society for Cell Biology is a highly influential academic organization in China's cell biology field. Dedicated to uniting cell biology professionals, promoting scholarly activities, and disseminating knowledge about cell biology technologies, the society has significantly advanced the development of the cell biology industry through initiatives such as academic exchanges, professional training, publication editing, and international collaborations.

The Chinese Society for Cell Biology was initiated in 1978 by renowned domestic cell biologists, including Zhuang Xiaoxian, former director of the Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, along with Vice Directors Yao Yan and Wang Deyao, as well as Luo Shiwei and Zheng Guofeng. Approved by the Presidium of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) in March 1979, the society was officially established in July 1980 as a national academic organization. It operates under the leadership of CAST and currently boasts over 13,000 members. Zhuang Xiaoxian served as the first chairman of the society's council. Today, the society is led by its 12th Council, with Academician Pei Gang as Honorary Chairman, Academician Chen Yeguang as Chairman, and Professor Gao Xiang as Supervisor.
