On December 18, 2021, the 5th session of the 4th Council Meeting of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine was held in Beijing. During the meeting, the 2021 Annual Information on the TCM Industry was officially unveiled via online livestream—highlighting that Jiuzhitang Shuxuetong Injection, Liuwei Dihuang Wan, and Tianma Gouteng Granules proudly made it onto the 2021 List of Clinically Valuable Traditional Chinese Medicine Brands!

This clinical evaluation of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) brand names was guided by clinical value, following the consensus on group standards released by the association, including the "General Principles for TCM Brand Evaluation," "TCM Brand Evaluation: Patent Medicines," and "TCM Brand Evaluation: Herbal Slices." The selection process focused on patent medicines recommended for treating conditions where TCM excels, combining recommendations from provincial industry associations with proactive research conducted by a panel of brand experts. As a result, only those TCM products and classic prescriptions demonstrating high clinical value, robust evidence-based support, distinctive therapeutic advantages, and strong brand influence made it into the final selection—while adhering strictly to a one-vote veto based on the negative list criteria. A total of 138 TCM products were shortlisted, covering a wide range of therapeutic areas such as neurological disorders, cardiovascular health, respiratory issues, tonifying therapies, and digestive system conditions.
At the meeting, Professor Lin Qian, Vice President of Dongzhimen Hospital at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Chairman of the Cardiovascular Drug Research Professional Committee of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, announced the 38 traditional Chinese medicines recognized for their clinical value in treating brain and cardiovascular diseases—including Tianma Gouteng Granules and Shuxuetong Injection!

Professor Gao Xuemin, a renowned professor at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, National Outstanding Teacher, and Chairman of the Clinical Evaluation Research Professional Committee of the China Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine, announced the inclusion of 32 clinically valuable proprietary Chinese medicines—covering respiratory, tonifying, and spleen-stomach categories—in the prestigious list. Notably, Jiuzhitang's Liuweidihuang Wan proudly made the cut!

Tianma Gouteng Granules, Shuxuetong Injection, and Liuwei Dihuang Wan have proudly made the list, fully highlighting the clinical value of Jiuzhitang's traditional Chinese medicine products while also boosting the brand’s overall influence!
Notably, at the meeting, Director Sun Xiaobo from the Institute of Scientific Plant Medicine at China Medical University delivered a report titled "Overview of the 2021 Selection Process for Benchmark Brands of Traditional Chinese Medicines with Clinical Value," using Jiuzhitang’s Shuxuetong Injection as an example. He highlighted how Chinese medicine injections can be rigorously evaluated and ultimately gain recognition—even acceptance—among peers, particularly Western medical practitioners. Professor Sun emphasized that the SPACE study on Shuxuetong Injection was predominantly conducted by Western medical institutions, which unequivocally validated the product’s efficacy. Specifically, administering Shuxuetong Injection during the acute phase significantly reduced patients’ risk of recurrence by 15%, without increasing safety concerns such as bleeding. Moreover, the research underlying the injection’s mechanisms—such as its effects on energy metabolism, angiogenesis, and improved circulation—has been thoroughly established. Further, extensive meta-analyses based on comprehensive literature reviews have firmly substantiated the product’s clinical benefits. Finally, Professor Sun noted that this groundbreaking study will pave the way for establishing robust clinical brand value standards for traditional Chinese medicines in the future.
As we enter a new stage of development—especially in the wake of the pandemic—traditional Chinese medicine has encountered an unprecedented period of strategic opportunity. As a time-honored Chinese enterprise and a quintessential representative of TCM culture, Jiu Zhi Tang adheres to the guiding principle of "innovating through inheritance and evolving through innovation." The company remains committed to preserving and advancing the cause of TCM, playing a vital role in building a healthier China!
