On October 25, the National Conference on Traditional Chinese Medicine was held in Beijing—this marked the first time since the founding of New China that a national TCM conference was convened under the auspices of the State Council.
General Secretary Xi Jinping issued important instructions: We must follow the principles governing the development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), uphold its essence, stay true to its core values while fostering innovation, and accelerate the modernization and industrialization of TCM. At the same time, we should continue to integrate both TCM and Western medicine, promoting their complementary roles and coordinated development. This will drive high-quality growth in TCM-related industries and services, help bring TCM to the global stage, and fully leverage its unique strengths and effectiveness in disease prevention and treatment. Ultimately, these efforts will contribute significantly to building a Healthy China and realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
Premier Li Keqiang issued important instructions: vigorously promote the cultivation of TCM talent, foster scientific and technological innovation, and advance pharmaceutical research and development. We must fully leverage the unique advantages of Traditional Chinese Medicine in disease prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation, while adhering to the principle of integrating both TCM and Western medicine. This will drive high-quality development of TCM through inheritance and innovation, enabling this treasured gem of Chinese civilization to shine anew and making fresh contributions to enhancing the health and well-being of our people!
On October 26, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council released the "Opinions on Promoting the Inheritance, Innovation, and Development of Traditional Chinese Medicine," outlining the goals, priorities, and specific measures for advancing TCM's inheritance, innovation, and development. This document has become a guiding, landmark framework for TCM-related work in the new era.
……
All of the above clearly signal that Traditional Chinese Medicine is on the verge of a vibrant new era of comprehensive revitalization and growth!
Respecting the past without being bound by it, innovating without losing sight of our roots—this is the guiding principle of Jiuzhitang, a time-honored Chinese enterprise that has thrived in the traditional Chinese medicine industry for 369 years. Upholding a development philosophy that seamlessly blends tradition with innovation, Jiuzhitang continuously preserves and explores the profound cultural and theoretical essence of TCM. At the same time, we champion the effective integration of traditional medicine and precision medicine, fostering mutual strengths in areas such as disease prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation therapies. Through these efforts, we aim to deliver comprehensive, precise, and highly effective health services across the entire life cycle, ultimately contributing to the enhanced well-being and quality of life for people across China.
Mr. Li Zhenguo, Chairman of Jiuzhitang, stated that innovation is the only path forward for the development of traditional Chinese medicine enterprises. This time, both President Xi’s important instructions and Premier Li’s significant remarks emphasized the need to "uphold the equal importance of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western medicine." This reflects a development strategy and philosophy aimed at continuously improving the nation’s overall health standards. After all, it doesn’t matter whether the cat is black or white—as long as it catches mice, it’s a good cat. Similarly, whether it’s Traditional Chinese Medicine or Western medicine, what truly matters is its ability to effectively safeguard the health of our people—it’s then that we can call it a "good doctor."

As a traditional Chinese medicine enterprise, Jiuzhitang has been actively exploring and conducting re-evaluations of Chinese medicinal injections as well as evidence-based medical research, continuously striving to enhance product efficacy, safety, and quality. Notably, the national "Twelfth Five-Year" Major Science and Technology Project—"Study on the Use of Shuxuetong Injection for Preventing Recurrence of Acute Embolic Stroke (SPACE Study)," led by Professor Wang Yongjun from the National Clinical Center for Neurological Diseases (Beijing Tiantan Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University)—marks the first multi-center, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study both domestically and internationally that objectively assesses the efficacy of a Chinese medicinal injection in preventing recurrent acute embolic stroke using advanced MRI imaging techniques. This groundbreaking research fills a critical gap in secondary stroke prevention and sets a new precedent in this field, serving as a prime example of innovative research methodologies in the realm of traditional Chinese medicine. It also provides a robust, scientifically validated approach for more accurately evaluating the safety and effectiveness of Chinese medicinal injections.
As a traditional Chinese medicine enterprise, Jiuzhitang has also achieved significant milestones in the stem cell industry. In 2018, Jiuzhitang invested in Stemedica, a company with 14 years of experience in stem cell research, by participating in the launch of a dedicated fund—marking a rapid expansion into the stem cell field.
While this bold move has certainly sparked debate, in January 2019, Stemedica Corporation’s stem cell-related indications received approval from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Health for market launch. Then, on September 7, the Jiuzhitang ALTACO International Medical Center was established at the China-Kazakhstan Khorgos International Border Cooperation Center, offering stem cell-based medical treatments to people across countries along the Belt and Road Initiative. On October 18, Jiuzhitang Beijing Guoyi Clinic officially opened, dedicated to delivering healthcare services that seamlessly integrate traditional Chinese medicine with cutting-edge precision medicine. Just days later, on October 22, Jiuzhitang Maker was awarded the national “High-Tech Enterprise” certification. Meanwhile, a state-of-the-art stem cell factory in Beijing’s Daxing district is set to break ground soon… Jiuzhitang is steadily advancing on its unique path—blending tradition with innovation—as it actively embodies the commitment and responsibility of a time-honored Chinese medicine brand to uphold core values while embracing modern advancements.
Chinese medicine enterprises are deeply embracing the profound implications of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and Premier Li Keqiang’s significant remarks. Li Zhenguo emphasized that only by truly integrating the essence of both inheritance and innovation into the very "bloodline" and "genetic code" of corporate development can traditional Chinese medicine unlock even stronger momentum for growth. As the Chinese medicine industry enjoys a vibrant spring of revitalization and expansion, Jiuzhitang—a century-old leader in the field—stands firm with reverence, steadily deepening its roots while preserving the core values of TCM. At the same time, the company remains open-minded, eagerly absorbing nourishment from the sun and rain to fuel its upward journey, flourishing vigorously with lush branches and leaves that eventually form a verdant canopy. Together with other pioneering TCM enterprises, Jiuzhitang is helping to nurture the thriving forest of China’s pharmaceutical industry—and, in doing so, safeguarding the health and well-being of our nation. Upholding the essence of tradition while boldly pursuing innovation, Jiuzhitang is firmly on the path ahead!
